Battery Safety: Essential Tips for Safe Use
LiPo (Lithium Polymer) batteries are widely used in high-performance blasters due to their high power output and fast recharge capabilities. However, proper care is essential to ensure safe usage and prolong battery life. Always use a compatible charger, avoid overcharging or discharging, and store batteries in a fireproof bag when not in use. Inspect for any swelling or damage before and after use, and never puncture or expose LiPo batteries to heat. Following these safety guidelines will help prevent accidents and keep your blaster running at peak performance.
DONT's:Don't Overcharge:Don't overcharge your LiPo batteries. Always follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding charging current, voltage, time, and procedure. Most LiPo battery cells have a voltage limit of 4.2V per cell. Don't Leave Charging Unattended:Don't leave your LiPo batteries charging unattended. Always keep an eye on them during the charging process. Don't Over-discharge:Don't over-discharge your LiPo batteries. Discontinue use and recharge the battery when you notice a decrease in performance. LiPo batteries should never be discharged below 3.0V per cell to avoid permanent damage. Don't Use a Damaged Battery:Don't use a LiPo battery that is damaged, swollen, or has any visible defects. Don't Use the Wrong Charger:Don't use a charger not designed for LiPo batteries. Using the wrong charger can cause overcharging and lead to a fire hazard. Don't Short Circuit:Don't short-circuit your LiPo batteries. Ensure that the positive and negative terminals do not come into contact with each other. Don't Expose to Extreme Temperatures:Don't expose your LiPo batteries to extreme temperatures. Avoid leaving them in direct sunlight or in a hot car. Don't Disassemble:Don't disassemble your LiPo batteries. Disassembling the battery can lead to a short circuit and other safety hazards. Don't Dispose of in the Trash:Don't dispose of LiPo batteries in the regular trash. They must be recycled properly due to their chemical composition and risk of fire. Don't Ignore Warning Signs:Don't ignore any warning signs such as excessive heat, smoke, or bulging. If you notice any of these signs, discontinue use immediately. Don't Modify the Battery:Don't modify or alter the LiPo battery in any way. This can lead to damage or a short circuit. Don't Use a Puffed Battery:Don't use a LiPo battery if it becomes puffed or swollen. This indicates internal damage and poses a safety risk. Don't Overload the Battery:Don't overload your LiPo batteries. Make sure the device you are using is compatible with the battery's capacity. |
DO'sFully Charge Your LiPo Before First Use:All batteries sold on our shop are shipped at a 50% charge for safety reasons and should be fully and properly charged before use. Using a new LiPo without fully charging it first may void the warranty and damage the battery. Use the Correct Charger:Do use a charger specifically designed for LiPo batteries. Make sure it is in good condition and not damaged. Monitor Charging:Do monitor the battery while it's charging. Never leave it unattended. Use a Fireproof Charging Bag:Do charge your LiPo batteries in a fireproof charging bag or LiPo safety bag to contain any potential fire hazard. Charge on a Non-Flammable Surface:Do charge your LiPo batteries on a non-flammable surface, away from any flammable materials. Check Battery Condition:Do regularly check the condition of your LiPo batteries, including physical damage or swelling. Do not use a damaged or swollen battery. Store at Partial Charge:Do store your LiPo batteries at around 50% charge in a cool, dry place. Avoid extreme temperatures. Use a Properly Sized Battery:Do use a battery that is appropriate for your device. Using an incorrectly sized battery can cause damage. Balance Charge:Do balance charge your LiPo batteries regularly to ensure all cells are charged equally. Charge in a Ventilated Area:Do charge your LiPo batteries in a well-ventilated area, away from heat sources. Proper Disposal:Do dispose of damaged or defective LiPo batteries properly. Many electronic stores accept them for recycling. Use a LiPo Storage Bag:Do store your LiPo batteries in a specialized LiPo storage bag when not in use to reduce the risk of damage. Use a Voltage Alarm:Do use a voltage alarm or low-voltage cutoff to prevent over-discharging your LiPo batteries. Use Heat-Shrink Tubing:Do use heat-shrink tubing to insulate the exposed parts of the battery's wires to avoid short circuits. Cell Voltage Calculation:LiPo batteries used in NERF are typically 3S or 4S. The "S" indicates the number of cells connected in series, which determines the total voltage. A fully charged LiPo cell is 4.2V, so a 3S pack is 12.6V, a 4S pack is 16.8V, and so on. This value represents the maximum fully charged voltage. Always ensure your battery matches your blaster voltage requirements. |
